RBC Taylor Prize Mentorship with Elizabeth Hay

I'm feeling so very lucky to have been selected for this program that helps to support emerging voices in the nonfiction world. As an "emergent," I will soon have the opportunity to hang out with some great CNF writers from across the country for an intensive six-day session. My mentor is the inimitable Elizabeth Hay, the author of the shortlisted memoir, All Things Consoled. I read this moving and singular book over the holidays and highly recommend it. A writer at the very height of her powers, Hay explores with great sensitivity and candor some critically important topics: end of life reckonings with one's parents, the aging process, and dying with dignity. I can't wait to chat with her about her work and the memoir I've been working on. Having access to someone with her level of experience in both fiction and nonfiction will be truly invaluable! The full press release on this exciting program is available here.
